Supported by Platform94 and Galway Chamber, the AI Adoption Accelerator Breakfast introduced local businesses to the practical opportunities of AI and how it can align with their goals for efficiency, growth, and innovation.
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers who shared invaluable insights, demystifying AI and demonstrating how it can drive impactful change for Irish SMEs.

Our speakers delivered actionable advice, answering key questions about AI adoption:
- Elaine Burke, Irish tech journalist and podcaster emphasised the importance of informed decision-making. “Treat AI like any digital transformation project,” she said, urging businesses to start by identifying the problems they need to solve. Elaine cautioned against being distracted by flashy tools, instead focusing on whether AI aligns with their goals.
- Victor Timon, AI regulation expert and partner at ByrneWallace LLP, reminded businesses that AI is already woven into many operations, often unnoticed. He highlighted the need for a robust AI policy, which starts with understanding how AI is currently used in the business. Victor explained that policies ensure AI is deployed ethically and securely, avoiding data misuse and bias.
- Marie Donnellan, of Platform94, tackled the myths surrounding AI adoption. Drawing on a popular analogy, she said, “When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” She encouraged businesses to think strategically, aligning AI with their unique goals to save costs, boost productivity, and achieve sustainable growth.
- John Clancy, of Galvia, shared an exciting preview of the Galvia AI Adoption Accelerator starting in January 2025. The five-week programme is designed to demystify AI for SMEs, guiding them through topics such as understanding AI, data management, regulations, and crafting a bespoke AI strategy.

Starting in January 2025, the Galvia AI Adoption Accelerator offers SMEs a practical, hands-on approach to adopting AI. Delivered in a hybrid format at Platform94 and online, the programme includes workshops led by AI experts, real-world case studies, and guidance on regulatory compliance. By the end of the programme, businesses will have a clear, actionable AI strategy tailored to their needs.
